Manifesto for a United, Strong, and Principled Regular Spanish Freemasonry
June 12th, 2025
To All Beloved Brethren,
My name is Rubén Argemí, and I wish to share with you my intention to stand as a candidate when the M.·.W.·. Grand Master calls for elections.
I was initiated into Freemasonry at the age of 22, in November 1994, alongside my brother, in Lodge Sant Jordi No. 2, where our father also laboured in the Craft. Over these past thirty years, my Masonic path has been profoundly shaped by the teachings of the various Rites I have practised, and by the wisdom of those Masters who managed to speak directly to my heart. I am also a member of other Masonic bodies and have been honoured to serve our Grand Lodge in various capacities.
Over the past months, and especially in recent weeks, many brothers have shared their concerns with me, often in the form of proposals that I have gathered and briefly outlined in this document. Many others have offered me their support to take this vision to the Grand Master’s position, where these much-needed changes can be implemented.
I believe that the performance and transmission of our ritual must remain the cornerstone of our Masonic journey—it is through ritual that we uphold our tradition and pass on its timeless teachings. It is our duty to preserve and transmit the values and principles instilled in us by our forebears, safeguarding the true essence of our Order.
The Order itself is universal and eternal. It must remain untouched by the fluctuations of institutional affairs, societal trends, individual ambitions or political agendas. However, the Institution—our Grand Lodge—must find the courage to adapt to the times we live in, while remaining steadfast in the purity and integrity of Masonic thought. In doing so, we will reclaim the foundational values that ought to be central to our work.
To achieve this, our Grand Lodge must rely on Brethren who assume roles of service—not for reward or recognition, but as a sincere act of dedication. Office should never be granted as a favour, but accepted as a duty—a commitment to the Brethren, to the Institution, and to the ideals we all share.
Regrettably, I believe we are living through a period in which administrative concerns have taken precedence over the true soul of Freemasonry. The recent focus on structural and procedural matters has come at the expense of our ritual life, which is and must remain the beating heart of the Grand Lodge.
In recent months, we have also witnessed disputes involving another Masonic Order—disputes that remain unclear to many, yet have sadly forced some Brethren to choose sides. Such personalistic divisions serve only to weaken our Fraternity.
Moreover, we have failed to clearly communicate our values to the wider world. There has been a mistaken assumption that public communication and effective messaging are one and the same. Internally as well, our communications have not adapted to the modern tools at our disposal—tools which could enhance transparency, foster engagement, and ensure that all Brethren are well-informed regarding the life and decisions of our Grand Lodge.
If we are to succeed, we must not only master the symbolic language of the Craft, but also learn how to convey its true meaning to society. We must refine our communication channels and adapt our language so that the world may understand what Freemasonry truly represents. In doing so, we will restore our rightful place in history—past, present and future. We must also improve internal communication so that Brethren are kept promptly and accurately informed.
In my view, we should establish a comprehensive archive of educational and documentary resources, aimed at promoting both personal and Masonic growth. These should be supported by structures and tools that serve the Order’s objectives—within the Lodges and at the Grand Lodge level alike.
We must also address the administrative side of our work—making it more efficient, reducing unnecessary costs, and streamlining our internal processes.
Another challenge we face is the decline in our international presence. Our participation in Masonic forums and regular Obediences abroad has diminished, and these vital relationships have been allowed to wither.
Above all, we must renew our commitment to one of the pillars of Freemasonry: Fraternity. We must cross the thresholds of Lodges across the nation and the world alike, working together as true Craftsmen in the great edifice of our Grand Lodge.
Brethren, Fraternity must not be a word we merely invoke; it must be the guiding force behind our Masonic journey.
For all these reasons, and driven by deep personal conviction, I humbly ask for your support when the time comes, so that we may walk this path together.
Starting from June 16th, WhatsApp +34 665 893 772 will be available for you to share your concerns and proposals, so we can all work together to build the future of our Grand Lodge.
UNITED IN FRATERNITY
Happy Summer Solstice.
Fraternally and sincerely,
R.W. Bro. Rubén Argemí
